Gatherings

We welcome you to gather with us!

At Tamid, we gather together for prayer, study, and social action – the hallmarks of our congregation. We meet for Shabbat prayer and dinner on the second Friday of the month, for the major Jewish holidays and for other occasions throughout the year. Tamid is the resident synagogue at the Generations Meeting House and Chapel in Downtown New Rochelle.

Our Hebrew School meets weekly for study, or limud, our adult learning programs meet for sessions in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Our Book Group gathers 4-5 times each year. We have activities for young children and families too.

For social action, we are changing the world in ways small and large. The materials from our Shabbat gatherings are almost 100% composted and recycled. In this past year, we have partnered with other houses of worship to resettle an Afghan refugee family, fed hundreds in the Bronx through our partners, aided flood victims, and distributed winter clothing items to hundreds of people. Tamid teens meet one Saturday night a month for DHAP – the Downtown Hunger Action Program.

We also gather for social and educational programs. Coming this year, we are adding “Get to know you” dinners – casual, small group dinners hosted at members’ homes – where new friendships are made and good friends become great freinds! We will also have a fall and spring installment of our ongoing Jewish Sites series, where we visit Jewish historical landmarks right in our area. Please join us!
